Loewe's Puzzle: How a Spanish Leather House Became Fashion's Quietest Power Player
Founded in 1846 as a leather workshop in Madrid, Loewe spent 150 years as Spain's best-kept secret. Then Jonathan Anderson arrived.

That changed in 2013 when Jonathan Anderson became creative director. The Puzzle bag (2014) is composed of 75 individually cut leather panels. The pre-Anderson archive — 160 years of Spanish leatherwork — is dramatically undervalued. A 1970s Loewe doctor bag can be found for 300-500 EUR. Barcelona is the capital of Loewe vintage sourcing. First-generation Puzzles from 2014-2016 trade at 40-60% of retail. Investment targets: 1980s Flamenco clutches (200-400 EUR), 1960s leather jewellery boxes (150-300 EUR).
